Mission Statement

Founded in the spring of 2009, 717 Sports' main objective is to provide a foundation in building a first class organization for the "serious" player in South Central Pennsylvania. By providing a positive learning environment and quality sports instruction to boys and girls, ages 6 to 17, 717 Sports will carry out it's mission of retaining and exposing the local athlete.

717 Sports will provide each one of its members with the opportunity to compete in regional and national level tournaments and camps as well as gain exposure.  Furthermore, members will receive very passionate coaching at the grassroots level of basketball, football and other sports with a heavy emphasis on player development.

While success of our organization can be measured in games and tournaments won, and camp instructions, the clearest measure of success for 717 Sports will be the high school diplomas earned, college scholarships awarded, and graduates being productive in a wide variety of other respected professions.  This is why top report cards and top GPA’s will be posted around our offices and positive alums are always welcome back to work with our organization.  This is why every camp offered will feature a guest speaker from a professional or college athlete or a top local athlete or coach from around the community.  Speakers are essential to young athletes who inspire to be something one day as young athletes can look at someone who has been successful through using athletics as a tool.

Brandon Way, Co-Founder and CEO of 717Sports has been around sports his entire life.  Playing every organized sport imaginable since the age of 6, he excelled at the high school level when making the district final in football, track, and semi-state final in basketball.  Due to a stellar high school football career the future coach landed himself at Penn State University playing for the legendary coach Joe Paterno.  After just one year on the Penn State football roster Brandon decided to transfer to Towson University to continue his football career.  While at Towson University, Brandon quickly began his coaching career on the football field as well as on the basketball court.  He worked as a student assistant for the football team after his playing days ended and also worked as a student assistant for the Women’s Basketball Program.  He worked hand in hand with Head Football Coach Gordy Combs and Head Women’s Basketball Coach Joe Matthews, respectively.

After his college days ended, Brandon found that coaching was his passion.  Brandon coached a local Baltimore Middle School basketball team and then worked at the world renown 5-Star Basketball Camp.  After returning to South Central Pennsylvania as a High School Teacher, Brandon immediately starting coaching football and Track at William Penn High School under head coach and mentor Matt Ortega.  Brandon has coached players playing D-1 football and in the NFL and has worked with top coaches on the local and national scene from NBA scouts to top College Football Coaches.  Brandon started this organization to help teach kids on and off the athletic playing ground so they can use sports as a tool to learn and grow as they reach their full potential.
